Butterball’s Arkansas turkey processing plant Doffing and Donning lawsuit
Helmert et al v. Butterball
Helmert et al v. Butterball
Three former employees of Butterball’s Arkansas turkey processing plant filed a lawsuit on April 23, 2008. The lawsuit alleges several violations of federal law: failure to pay for donning and doffing, failure to pay for the time it takes to sanitize necessary equipment, and failure to provide employees with an appropriate lunch break. On December 15, 2009, the court ruled that the case could proceed as a collective action, enabling qualified current and former Butterball employees to join the lawsuit.
