Are you required to perform certain tasks before or after your shift – but they don’t pay you for that time? Call center employees around the country are being denied overtime pay and other benefits of employment.

Background
Call center employees may not be getting paid for all the time they spend working at the beginning and end of their shifts and during their lunch break. Many call center employees are paid for a set schedule, like 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. However, if you are required to be at your desk before or after your set schedule and are not being paid for this extra time - that is against the law. You may be entitled to unpaid overtime if you:
- Are an hourly-paid employee and are not paid for overtime hours. Even if you are on a salary you might still be owed overtime.
- Are not paid for all the time spent working at the beginning or the end of your shift, or during your lunch break.
- Are required to report to work prior to the start of your scheduled shift, in order to take care of preparatory tasks like paperwork and booting up your computer.
