Egg Recall: Minnesota Man Files Salmonella Lawsuit
MINNEAPOLIS, MN: A lawsuit was filed today against Wright County Egg of Iowa and Hillandale Farms of Iowa on behalf of an elderly Minnesota man who required hospitalization. The outbreak caused thousands of people across the United States to become ill. Wright County Egg of Iowa recalled 380 million eggs. A second egg farm, Hillandale Farms, announced a recall of 170 million eggs. At least 2,000 salmonella illnesses have been linked to the recalled eggs.
According to attorney, Bucky Zimmerman, “The system is not working. What we see in each of these outbreaks are inconsistencies in the way we safeguard the public’s health. Right now, we are paying a high price for those failures. And that price is being paid by the most vulnerable members of our community: our children, the elderly and those with compromised immune systems.”
