Samsung Refrigerator Defects Lawsuit
In September 2010, Samsung refrigerator owners filed a class action lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for New Jersey alleging that certain Samsung refrigerator models may have a faulty design that causes the fridge and freezer to have problems cooling - resulting in spoiled food and costly repairs to fix the problem.
The Samsung refrigerators in question have an inherent design defect that causes the coils to ice over and fail prematurely. As a result of this defect, the refrigerators do not stay cool, allowing food to spoil. It is alleged that Samsung has known of the problem since 2005 - but continued to manufacture, market and sell the defective fridges.
The defective Samsung refrigerator model numbers referenced in the Complaint are: RF266AASH, RS263BBWP, RB1955SH, RS2533SW, RS267LASH, RS267TDRS, RS2630WW. We continue to hear from consumers who own other Samsung refrigerator models that have had similar issues with cooling. If you have a Samsung refrigerator model which has had cooling problems and is not on the above list, we ask that you contact us by e-mail to provide your model number and information about your experience with the defective refrigerator so that we can continue to expand our investigation of Samsung's manufacturing and marketing practices.
On March 3, 2012, the court ruled that the Plaintiffs who filed the lawsuit must include more information in their complaint.
