ANDERSEN WINDOW DEFECTS
There have been reports that Andersen Windows "High Performance" window with Argon is not performing as represented, there by causing additional energy costs to homeowners.
Background:
Andersen developed a window unit called “High Performance” containing a low-emissivity (“low-E”) coating with the option of adding an argon fill to aid in insulation, for an extra cost. The alleged primary defect is the use of capillary tubes in window units sold to consumers in the Western part of the United States. Andersen Windows are manufactured in Minnesota and then shipped across states into higher elevations and are installed in areas subject to dramatic changes in atmospheric pressure between the panes of glass. As a result, the argon leaks out of the capillary tubes causing hundreds of additional dollars per year in energy costs to these homeowners.
