Wal-Mart Sand 'n Sun Flip Flop Chemical Burns
People who purchased the Sand ‘N Sun flip flop from retail giant Wal-Mart are now complaining of first and second degree chemical burns on their feet.
Background:
Since September 2007, Wal-Mart has sold over seven million of their Sand ‘N Sun flip flops across the United States. Dozens have come forward claiming they have suffered chemical burns and blisters on their feet directly underneath the straps of the flip flop. The Sand 'N Sun sandals have since been recalled, although customers were still reportedly finding the sandals on Wal-Mart shelves.
While some reports have speculated that the burns are likely due to people having allergies to the rubber on the sandals, others have reported that there may be a chemical component that is to blame. These flip flops are manufactured in China and it has recently come to light that many retailers selling products from China have been struggling with claims arising from defects in Chinese-made products.
